Suchita Vadlamani was born on August 1, 1971, in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. Her parents, Rajesh and Chakor Vadlamani, immigrated from India to the United States in search of better opportunities. They settled in St. Louis prior to her birth, and Suchita grew up immersed in both American and Indian cultures. As a first-generation American of Indian descent, she is recognized for embracing her dual heritage.
From a young age, Suchita showed a strong interest in journalism and broadcasting. She was inspired by renowned TV personalities such as Anderson Cooper, Lesley Stahl, Bob Schieffer, Ann Curry, and Katie Couric. Her greatest influence, however, was Diane Sawyer, whom she frequently imitated for her family. These early performances sparked a passion that would later shape her career in media. Loved ones often refer to her affectionately by the nickname “Suchi.”
Suchita Vadlamani received her early education in St. Louis, attending both primary and high school in the city. Following high school, she enrolled at the University of Chicago, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in French Language and Literature. Continuing her interest in media, she later pursued journalism studies at the University of Paris. During her academic years, she was recognized as a diligent and high-achieving student, making her family particularly proud of her accomplishments.
Suchita began her journalism career as a correspondent for CNBC Asia, based in India. During her tenure there, she reported from various cities, with a particular focus on Mumbai. While in Mumbai, she also hosted a local radio talk show that featured interviews with Indian politicians and prominent public figures. Additionally, she contributed articles to local publications, addressing subjects such as gender issues and the evolving role of women in Indian society.
Her career later took her to Singapore, where she hosted CNBC Asia’s programs CNBC Today and Market Watch. Upon returning to the United States, she worked as a news anchor at KSDK NewsChannel 5 in St. Louis. However, she gained her most public recognition in Atlanta as the morning anchor for Fox 5’s Good Day Atlanta. Joining the station in 2002, she remained there until 2010, earning a reputation for professionalism and objective news coverage. During this period, she also co-produced the media initiative Asian Working Woman, contributing to the representation of Asian-American women in the workplace.
Suchita was briefly married, though she has chosen not to disclose the identity of her former spouse. The marriage did not result in any children. Currently, she resides in Atlanta and is in a relationship, with plans to eventually marry and start a family.
