Wyatt Russell is an American actor and former professional ice hockey player, born on July 10, 1986, in Los Angeles, California. He is the son of celebrated actors Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn. He has three half-siblings—Oliver Hudson, Kate Hudson, and Boston Russell—who are also involved in the entertainment industry.
During his youth, Russell pursued a serious interest in sports, particularly ice hockey. He played as a goaltender for several teams, including the Richmond Sockeyes, Langley Hornets, Coquitlam Express, Chicago Steel, Brampton Capitals, and Groningen Grizzlies. He later attended the University of Alabama in Huntsville, where he played NCAA Division I hockey for the Alabama–Huntsville Chargers. Unfortunately, recurring injuries forced him to retire from the sport before turning professional.
After his hockey career ended, Russell shifted his focus to acting, following in the footsteps of his famous parents. He began landing roles in feature films such as Cowboys & Aliens (2011), This Is 40 (2012), and 22 Jump Street (2014). His performances began drawing attention, and he steadily built a career characterized by versatility and range.
In 2016, Russell co-starred in the indie film Folk Hero & Funny Guy, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. That same year, he earned critical recognition for his role in an episode of the acclaimed anthology series Black Mirror, titled "Playtest."
Russell continued to gain momentum with his role in the 2018 World War II action-horror film Overlord, co-starring Jovan Adepo. The film received favorable reviews for its blend of historical drama and supernatural elements, and Russell's performance was highlighted as a standout.
His growing body of work showcases his range as an actor, from broad comedy to intense drama and psychological thrillers.
Wyatt Russell married stylist Sanne Hamers on March 14, 2014. The couple later divorced in 2017. Following the divorce, Russell began dating actress Meredith Hagner, whom he met while filming Folk Hero & Funny Guy. The couple married in 2019 and have since welcomed children together.
Russell currently resides in Sherman Oaks, California. Though he stepped away from professional hockey, he remains connected to sports and continues to build a respected career in Hollywood.
