Early Life and Family Background

Oliver Hudson, born in 1976 in Los Angeles, California, is an American actor. He is the son of actress Goldie Hawn and musician Bill Hudson and the older brother of actress Kate Hudson.

Following his parents' divorce in 1980, Oliver and his sister Kate were raised in Colorado by their mother and her long-term partner, actor Kurt Russell. He has four half-siblings: Zachary and Emily, born to Bill Hudson and actress Cindy Williams; Lalania, from another relationship of his father; and Wyatt Russell, from his mother's relationship with Kurt Russell.

Hudson has a diverse ethnic background. On his father's side, he is of Italian descent, while his maternal grandmother was of Hungarian Jewish heritage. Additionally, he has distant Dutch, German, and English ancestry. He is also a cousin of singer Sara Hudson.

Television and Film Career

Oliver Hudson made one of his early film appearances in 1999, acting alongside his mother in the comedy The Out-of-Towners. He followed this with roles in several teen-focused films including Going Greek and The Smokers.

He gained more visibility with a lead role in the WB comedy series My Guide to Becoming a Rock Star. Between 2002 and 2003, he held a recurring role as Eddie Doling—Katie Holmes' character's love interest—on the teen drama Dawson’s Creek.
