Erica was born in 1987 and was raised in New York. She has an amazing personality and this is why people close to her feel she is ready to take over the entertainment industry. While growing up, she loved fashion and she started to sketch clothes when she was still only 8 years old.
She made her name in the modeling world when she won the award of being a look alike to Jennifer Lopez. She was only 14 years old at the time. After this contest, she was featured in many music videos like Excuse Me Miss and Breathe.

In an interview with Rolling Out, Erica was asked to talk about her reality TV career and her personal relationships that she has developed from being in the entertainment industry. On the VH1 reality show, “Love & Hip Hop” fans know her for her heated and crazy behavior. She often gets into tense arguments with the other cast members. She has been in multiple fights on the show which has given her a lot of exposure.
Erica was asked how she feels about her notorious behavior on the program, “I know how it happened in real time and then I also know that things in life just happen. People are going to judge you and hate you no matter what. I’m constantly going through the transition of love and hate at the same time and it just makes me who I am. I’ve finally come to the realization that because of the platform, I have to kind of take a view on my life. Editing does play a big part because sometimes how it happens and how it’s edited doesn’t really work to your favor. But, this is still my life and it’s still entertaining.”
Erica has accepted the fact that she is under the control of the editors and she has no control since she is just a cast member. She just wants to represent herself as honestly as she can and thinks that as long as people talk about her, it is good for her career, “Whether people love it or hate it, they’re still intrigued about what’s going on with crazy Erica Mena. With the whole Kimbella situation, I had to learn that I have to think before I act. But I also have to be OK with being myself, because if I’m not being myself fully or truthfully, I’m not really living.”
Erica became friends with Bow Wow when they met on the “FreshasImiz” music video. They had a great friendship that lasted for eight years until they took the next step. Rolling Out asked her how they finally fell in love in 2014, “When that whole “106 & Park” kiss happened, we were both seeing other people and that kiss put us in the doghouse. So we were kind of confiding in each other. I realized that he is a man who really knows me and I’ve never had someone to fully accept me for who I am, flaws and all. I think it just happened naturally with us. We were at that point of really wanting to settle down, but the people that we were with at the time just weren’t fitting us. So it just happened and I discovered that this was the person that I was really supposed to be with.”
