J.B. Holmes

Health Challenges and Career Setbacks

In 2011, Holmes withdrew from the PGA Championship after dealing with chronic vertigo symptoms. He was later diagnosed with Chiari malformations, a structural defect in the cerebellum. He underwent brain surgery to address the condition. Complications followed when he had an allergic reaction to the titanium mesh plate placed during the procedure, requiring a second surgery. Further setbacks included elbow surgery and an ankle injury, all of which limited him to just six PGA Tour events in 2013.
