Jacoby Shaddix is an American musician, singer, songwriter, rapper, television presenter, and actor. He is best known as the founding member and lead vocalist of the California-based rock band Papa Roach, a role he has held since the band's formation in 1993.
Jacoby Dakota Shaddix was born on July 28, 1976. Raised in California, Shaddix developed a passion for music early in life, which laid the foundation for his future career in rock and alternative metal.
In 1993, Shaddix co-founded Papa Roach with drummer Dave Buckner, bassist Will James, and guitarist Ben Luther while they were still in high school. The band initially gained attention in the Northern California rock scene and steadily built a national following through aggressive touring and a unique fusion of rock, nu-metal, and rap elements. Papa Roach gained mainstream success with their 2000 breakthrough album Infest, which featured hits like "Last Resort" and "Broken Home."

He served as the presenter for both seasons of the show, which aired from April 10 to September 18, 2007, across a total of 20 episodes. Inspired by the Papa Roach song "Scars," Scarred showcased footage of extreme sports injuries sustained by athletes, particularly skateboarders and BMX riders. While the show resonated with MTV’s core audience due to its shock value and raw clips, it received mixed reactions, with some viewers finding the content overly graphic.
Shaddix eventually stepped away from television to return to full-time touring and recording duties with Papa Roach, prioritizing his commitment to the band’s evolving musical direction.
