Burke was nominated for the British Columbia Association of Broadcasters award thanks to her reporting style and professionalism. Burke also got two consecutive Leo Awards in the years 1999 and 2000 for Best News Anchor when she was at Global in Vancouver. The Leo Award is given to the media personalities who have positively impacted the populace with their reporting and media research contributions. She won a Gemini Award for being the Best Lifestyle/Practical Information Segment media person.

Jennifer has also been a crucial member of The Development Fund foundation since 1997. The foundation’s goal is to seek donations to raise money for various charitable activities. Jennifer successfully served as the organization’s Program Director for several years. Since joining the organization in 1997, she has participated in creating an affordable housing consortium in the state of Utah, and been a lead staff person for the California Environmental Redevelopment Fund (CERF), as well as for a similar effort in Pennsylvania. Ms. Burke is the principal liaison with the project's diverse constituencies from the private, public, and nonprofit sectors.

Jennifer is an enthusiastic social participant who put her efforts and hard work to community activities. She spends most of her leisure time for various noble causes such as Canuck Place, BC Children’s Hospital, The CKNW Orphans Fund, Children’s Miracle Network Telethon, Women’s Media Golf Classic, and the Variety Club. Her involvement in these social and community activities and more specifically in annual Women’s Media Golf Classic has been a contributory factor in raising more than 2.5 million dollars for children’s charities. All funds donated to the annual Women’s Media Golf Classic, go to The Pacific Autism Family Centre Foundation. Burke was the Co-Chair of “Orcas in the City” of Lions Society.
