Jill Sondra Dorfman, professionally known as Jill Martin, was born on April 14, 1976, on Manhattan Island in New York City, United States. She spent her childhood in Plainview, New York, where many of her relatives still reside. Jill graduated with honors in Communications from the University of Michigan. During her time at the university, she gained early exposure to the television industry by interning for several programs, including Geraldo and Live with Regis and Kathie Lee.

Early Career in Broadcasting
Jill Martin began her professional broadcasting career as an assistant on The Maury Povich Show. Soon after, she took on an anchoring role for a show titled LIVE!. A year later, she returned to New York to work as a correspondent for News 12 Long Island, where she launched a segment called "What’s Hot in the Hamptons."
She later moved to Miami and joined the Miami Heat organization as an in-arena host and reporter. While in Miami, Jill interviewed numerous celebrities and athletes, including Jimmy Buffett and Martin Lawrence, focusing especially on athletes’ lives off the court. Her writing on the personal lives of sports figures was also featured in Ocean Drive Magazine.
Martin expanded her broadcasting reach by working as a fashion correspondent for ABC’s Good Morning America. In 2000, she joined CBS 4-WFOR, where she covered major weather events, including hurricanes. Notably, she and Jonathan Tisch, then CEO of Loews Hotels, raised $750,000 for hurricane relief efforts.

In 2007, Jill Martin became a prominent presence on the Madison Square Garden Network. Known for her engaging pre-game and post-game interviews with athletes, she hosted an evening sports show on MSG NY featuring highlights and exclusive interviews. Her work helped bring fans closer to the on- and off-court lives of major sports figures.
Martin also established a relationship with the Garden of Dreams Foundation, a nonprofit associated with Madison Square Garden. Her efforts focused on supporting underprivileged children and helping fulfill their wishes, emphasizing her commitment to community outreach.
