Jim Clancy has over three decades of experience working as correspondent for CNN International.  He is based in Atlanta, the world headquarters of CNN at present and anchors ‘The Brief’ which is a global news wrap that is telecast on Friday and also on weekends at CNNI.

Jim Clancy is a very private person and does not reveal much about his married life and children. Before joining as reporter at CNN, he had an extensive and well recognized career in local radio as well as television in San Francisco and Denver.

Profession

Jim Clancy joined CNN as reporter in the year 1981. He has covered all the major new stories internationally since then including the Fall of Communism, the Berlin wall collapse, and the Beirut Siege. He reported all these stories in person making them more exclusive and original. He has reported events that have changed history towards the end of last century. He has reported live from Astana in Kazakhstan, which was the first ever live broadcast from that country for CNN. He also contributes for the show ‘The CNN Freedom Project: Ending Modern-Day Slavery’ which brings to light the truth about modern day slavery and why it should be stopped.

Accomplishments

During his career spanning over three decades, Jim Clancy has won numerous awards and recognitions. He won the George Polk Award for reporting the Rwanda genocide, the Emmy Award for his coverage of the famine in Somalia, and the international aid it received, the Alfred I. duPont Award for reporting on the Bosnia War and the A.H. Boerma Award for reporting on global hunger and food issues. He received the Emmy Award for his coverage of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak’s resignation in 2012 and also the Emmy for ‘Outstanding Live coverage of a Current News Story’ in 2012. He also did an exclusive interview on the Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report released in the year 2011 with the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Jim Clancy has frequently anchored on-location programs for CNNI and all his reports give the viewers an unerring insight into the situation which is possible only with the several years of reporting experience that he has. His deep perspective approach and critical outlook has made possible an unbiased and truthful report on many war reports ranging from the war in Iraq to several other war situations. He also played a major role in exposing the trials and tribulation of the people in Africa by the weekly program Inside Africa.
