John Savage is an American actor who was born on August 25, 1949, in Old Bethpage, New York, in the United States. He was born to Muriel and Floyd-Jones Youngs, a World War II veteran who served with the Marines at Guadalcanal. Savage grew up with his sisters Robin Youngs and Gail Youngs and a brother named Jim Youngs. In the 1970s, Savage performed in the Broadway play "American Buffalo" with Robert Duvall and Kenneth McMillan. His biggest film role yet would come in 1978 in the film "The Deer Hunter" with Robert De Niro and Christopher Walken. Savage followed up this hit with another called "The Onion Field" in 1979. His roles in films would continue into the 1990s when he starred in Italian director Lucio Fulci's last film "Door to Silence". Savage also appeared in the television series "Star Trek: Voyager" in 1999.

In 2000, he played Donald Lydecker in the television series "Dark Angel". From 2003 to 2005, Savage played Henry Scudder in the HBO television series "Carnivale". He has also had guest appearances on shows including NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and Fox networks series "Fringe". Savage married Susan Youngs but the marriage didn't last. He then married Sandi Schultz and had two children before divorcing once again. He is currently dating Blanca Blanco since 2008.
