Jon Seda was born in the city of Manhattan and his parents are of Puerto Rican heritage but the name of his father is not known. He was raised in the Clifton New Jersey.  When he graduated in his high school studies, he started to work in the gym and after two friends convinced him that he should start with boxing.  He was boxing in different gyms of New Jersey and afterwards, he was the runner up in the New Jersey Golden Gloves Competition.  He had the record of winning 21 times and losing just once. He was meaning to become champion boxer.

Jon Seda started to act in 1992 and he was a Cuban boxer called Romano in Gladiator. Afterwards, he worked in different films or TV series. In the year 1995, he was nominated to be the Best Male Lead for Spirit Award for the role he had in the 1994 movie called Like It Like That and he was opposite Lauren Velez and Rita Moreno. In 1996, he was nominated to be given Palme D’or for the Best Actor Award for the role he had in Blue in the film of The Sunchaser which is the opposite actor of Woody Harrelson of Cannes Film Festival.

Jon Seda started to be well known for the role he had as Chris Perez together with Jennifer Lopez in the movie Selena.  It was the movie about the true story of Tejano singer called Selena Quintanilla Perez and was murdered when she was about to achieve stardom. He was playing as Chris Perez, a husband of Selena. In the Homicide: Life on The Street, he used his boxing background and he had episode where he had to show his attractiveness. He had to box Jimmy Smits in the film called Price of Glory.

Jon Seda is married to Lisa Gomez and they dated for sometime before they decided to get married. With his wife, he has three children, a son called Jonathan Seda and a daughter Haley, and she may be having some plans to having more children even in the future but this is not known yet.
