Personal Life

He was born in 1935 and American by birth. His mother was Russian Jewish and his father was German Jewish and electrician by profession. He completed his schooling in the Brooklyn, NY and pursued degree in Physics. He worked in American Army for few months but his passion for acting didn’t let him settle there. He found a job in some local theatre in New York and his acting journey started from there.

He got married to Elisa Sadaune in 1956 and they were blessed with a baby boy, Alexander Hirsch. This marriage didn’t last long and the couple got divorce. After getting separated from his wife, Judd Hirsch led a single life for few years and dated many girls but finally fell in love with Bonni Sue Chalkin. She is fashion designer by profession and they got married in 1992. Bonni Sue Chalkin gave birth to a son and a daughter and they parted their ways in 2003. Some claim that he is a gay which is not true as he had married twice and have three children.

Personality

He is close to six feet tall which is considered a good height for an actor. He can be easily recognized because of his distinct unsymmetrical eyes. He has been in the industry for more than 50 years but he had neither exposed his body nor played obscene roles. Starting from his acting career, he is maintaining the same tall lanky figure.

Professional Career

His role in the TV series “Taxi” was well received by audience. He got prestigious Emmy Award twice for his role Alex Rieger. He also won Tom awards twice for his roles in “Conversations with My Father” and “I'm Not Rappaport”. His other noted works include but not limited to Dear John, George & Leo, Numb3rs, Regular Joe, etc.

He made his presence felt on the big screen also by getting nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1980. His played so many important roles in several movies and the father role played by him in the Independence Day (1996) can’t be easily erased from the audience minds. Some other successful films he acted include Ordinary People (1980), Out of the Cold (1999), Zeyda and the Hit man (2004), etc. Most of his income came from acting in TV dramas and his net worth is approximately twelve million dollars.

Finally, he can be called as an encyclopedia of acting as he can effortlessly switch from theatre to TV to movies and can do justice to all types of roles. It is really hard to see such acting legends in the present generation and we can’t see an actor like Judd Hirsch in the near future for sure.
