Karl worked for a small period as a journalist before moving onto London to work in XFM. After the stint with XFM, he started working on The Ricky Gervais Show as program producer. It was the beginning of a life long working relationship he would have with Gervais. The success made him famous over time and he started hosting several other shows including BBC 6 Music shows, shows with Russell Brand, and many other BBC programs. Aside for his producer work, he also appeared as a guest in several shows like The Culture Show and Flipside TV.

Karl made his cinematic debut in the 2009 movie, The Invention of Lying as a caveman. He also appeared in Cemetery Junction and Chingari where he acted in minor roles. One of Karl’s most recent TV appearances was in The Moaning of Life, which aired from 2013 to 2015.

Karl started to gain prominence as the producer of Ricky Gervais but he gradually started to gain his own popularity among the public. He started getting more broadcasting time on the insistence of Ricky who thought Karl had too interesting of life to not share. Karl discussed stories about his childhood where he had a few near-death experiences.

Karl is currently in a relationship with girlfriend, Suzanne Whiston, who has worked as a sports reporter for BBC and also worked at various radio stations. Their common work environment helped their relationship because shared many of the same entertainment experiences. Karl and Suzanne reportedly met while working on a radio station together, in the city of Manchester. Suzanne and Karl have been seen seldom in public but that is only because they look to keep a private life away from the public.

Suzanne supposedly lent Karl some small change for hot chocolate and also bought him another when Karl helped her with some of her editing work. The sweet looking couple has often been joked about Ricky Gervais in his podcast appearances. Ricky is main culprit for making Karl’s relationship a public topic. Ricky doesn’t mind though because Karl himself is always in the news for saying and doing odd. Although, Karl’s quirky traits are not easy to be adapt to, their relationship has lasted quite long because of Suzanne’s amazing ability to put up with him!

One of the major reasons for the sustainability of the relationship can also be credited to the fact that Karl has never been linked with any other woman. While Karl’s clean image has definitely earned him followers, his devotion and commitment has also played a major factor in the strength of their relationship. Even though they have mostly lived in peace, there have been some differences and disagreements in their union.
