Karyn Parsons is known as an American actress and comedian. She is most famous for her role as Hilary Banks on the NBC comedy sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air which aired from 1990 to 1996.

Background

Karyn Parsons was born on October 8, 1966 in Los Angeles, CA. She grew up as the only child in her middle class family. At a young age, she was an aspiring dancer but she tore out a knee ligament. The injury sadly caused her to retire from dancing at an early age. She decided to go into acting at the young age of 13 because she was inspired by the craft of acting when she observed her classmates perform in George Bernard Shaw's "Mrs. Warren's Profession".

Acting Career

In 1987, Karyn had her first big TV role in the NBC drama The Bronx Zoo. She got her big break as Will Smith's cousin "Hilary Banks" on the NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air in 1990. Parsons also starred in the 1995 comedy film Major Payne which had Damon Wayans as the lead star.

Personal Life

Parsons is currently raising her two children Nico and Lana with her husband Alexandre in New York City.
