Krysten Alice Ritter is an American actress, model, musician, and author, born on December 16, 1981, in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. She was raised on a farm in the borough of Shickshinny in Luzerne County. At the age of fifteen, she was discovered by a modeling agent while shopping at her local mall. Ritter soon began traveling to New York City and Philadelphia for modeling work. She was first signed with Elite Model Management and later with Wilhelmina Models.

Krysten Ritter is best known for her leading role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe television series Jessica Jones. The character first appeared in Marvel Comics, created by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Gaydos. In the show, Ritter portrays Jessica Jones as a hard-drinking, private investigator with superhuman strength who struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder. The role earned her acclaim for its depth and complexity.
