Krysten Ritter is an American actress, model, musician, and author who is known for her portrayal of superhero lead on the Marvel Cinematic Universe series Jessica Jones. Jessica Jones first appeared in comic books created by writer Brian Michael Bendis, animator Micheal Gaydos, and published by Marvel Comics. Krysten Alice Ritter was born on December 16, 1981, in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania; she was raised on a farm in the borough of Shickshinny in Luzerne County. Ritter began modeling at the age of fifteen after being scouted by a modeling agent at her local shopping mall. She began traveling to New York City and Philadelphia to model and was first represented by Elite Mode Management Agency and later with Wilhelmina Models. Ritter’s film credits include How to Make Love to a Woman (2010), Vamps (2012), Refuge (2012), Veronica Mars (2014), Search Party (2014), and The Hero (2017).
In Jessica Jones, Krysten plays a hard drinking, low rent private eye, that suffers from post traumatic stress disorder and has superhuman strength. Her first novel, entitled Bonfire, is a psychological thriller published by Crown Archetype in 2017. Krysten also plays guitar, sings, and writes for the band Ex Vivian, which she formed with her childhood friend, William Thomas Burnett.
