Early Life and Passion for Acting

Lisa Backwell was born on October 28, 1990, in Bristol, United Kingdom. A British national, she showed a strong interest in acting from a young age. Known for performing in front of her family, Backwell expressed hopes of becoming a well-known actress one day. To pursue her aspirations, she joined the National Youth Theatre in London, where she had the opportunity to work and train alongside emerging British talents such as Nicholas Hoult, Dev Patel, Jack O’Connell, and Hannah Murray.

Breakthrough Role in Skins

After graduating from the National Youth Theatre, Lisa Backwell secured her breakout role as Pandora Moon in the critically acclaimed E4 teen drama series Skins. Her character, Pandora, is portrayed as a well-meaning yet naive teenager trying to navigate friendship and teenage relationships. Through the lens of Pandora’s experiences, the series explores themes such as peer pressure, romantic turmoil, and adolescent curiosity about sex and identity.

Skins aired between 2007 and 2013. Lisa Backwell joined the cast in the second season, which premiered on February 11, 2008, and remained a key figure in the third season as well. She and Kaya Scodelario, who played Effy Stonem, were the only cast members to appear in both the second and third seasons, bridging two different generations of the show’s ensemble cast.

Other Acting Work

In addition to Skins, Lisa Backwell also appeared in several short films. She played the lead role in the short film Ella, and later featured in Too Good of a Samaritan (2012). However, aside from her work in Skins and these short films, she did not appear in any other major television productions.
