Logan Tom is an American beach volleyball and indoor volleyball player. She has won the Olympic medal four times as outside hitter. She also holds the distinction of becoming the youngest woman to be chosen for the Olympic volleyball team in America.
Personal
Born in May 25, 1981 in Napa, California, Logan Maile Lei Tom was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. Being a Chinese Hawaiian, she spent her holidays in Hawaii. While in school, she has set many Utah State records. She also took part in basketball games and track events. She studied at the Stanford University, but did not complete her studies and quit before completing International Relations which she took on as major.
Profession
Logan Tom’s initial professional entry was as part of the Brazilian team MRV/Minas of the Brazil Superliga in the year 2003. She has appeared in the 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012 Olympics and has been named as the best scorer in the 2008 Olympic Games. In 2004, she left indoor volleyball and started playing beach volleyball when she finished 5th place in the Athens Olympics. She joined the women’s volleyball team ‘Hisamitsu Springs’ in the year 2008. The team is based in Kobe City, Hyogo and also in Tosu City, Saga in Japan.
Awards
During her illustrious career in volleyball, Tom has earned many awards and recognitions including the Gatorade Player of the Year award in 1999, the Sportswoman of the year Award by Women’s Sports Foundation in 2003, the Most Valuable Player of the World Grand Prix in 2004, and the Best Server honor in the same year. She was also the AVP Rookie of the Year in 2006 and the most valuable player in the FIVB World Cup in 2007. She was honored with the Best Receiver award in the 2010 World Championship. She also earned the gold medal at the NORCECA Championship in 2011 and the Best Server in the same championship which took place in Caguas, Puerto Rico.
Selected at the young age of 19 for the USA Olympic Volleyball team, Logan Tom has won many honors and accolades during her career. She has also appeared on the FHM magazine article that focused on female athletes in Olympics. She was also ranked as one of the 100 sexiest women by the magazine in 2005. Logan Tom is also an online volleyball instructor working at the instructional volleyball website Volleyball1on1. She normally interacts through instructional videos.
