Scola’s talent soon attracted attention beyond Argentina, leading him to play in Spain. He joined teams such as Gijón Baloncesto and later signed with Tau Cerámica, where his performance further elevated his visibility in the international basketball scene. His success in Spain opened the door for potential contracts with NBA teams, including an initial agreement with the San Antonio Spurs in 2005. However, due to contract buyout issues with his Spanish club, the move to the Spurs was not finalized.
