Marisa Christine Coughlan was born on March 17, 1974 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She graduated from Breck School, a little private school in Golden Valley, Minnesota. When she moved to Los Angeles with her father Daniel Merritt Coughlan, she enlisted at the University of Southern California. She studied abroad in Paris in 1995, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French in 1996.

Career

Marisa’s first prominent role was being the lead in Kevin Williamson's Teaching Mrs. Tingle. She acted in the film with famous actresses, Katie Holmes and Helen Mirren. She was thrown in the role after having been rejected for a role on Williamson's popular young adult series Dawson's Creek. She followed this role with a regular role on the series Wasteland in 1999.

She also had a recurring role as Melissa Hughes on the law drama series, Boston Legal. In 2007, she featured as Jenny McIntyre in Lifetime Television's unique series Side Order of Life. Lifetime did continue the series up for a second season in spite of a solid fan following.
