In addition to his passion for acting, Shively was also musically inclined. He co-founded a band called Connecting Channels with one of his close friends, actor Sterling Knight. During his teenage years, he developed a strong admiration for the Canadian teen drama Degrassi: The Next Generation, calling himself a longtime fan of the series.

Television Career

Shively's professional acting career began in 2007 with a role as Nathan in the film The Tomb, directed by Ulli Lommel. While the independent horror film did not achieve commercial success, it marked his entry into the industry and helped him gain initial exposure.

In 2008, Shively landed his breakout television role as Ryan Laserbeam in Nickelodeon’s popular sitcom True Jackson, VP. He appeared in 58 episodes of the series, becoming a familiar face to young television audiences. His performance in the show helped solidify his presence in teen and family programming.

Over the next few years, he expanded his television credits with guest appearances in shows such as Last Man Standing, Never Fade Away, Sidewalks Entertainment, and Bucket & Skinner's Epic Adventures. From 2011 to 2013, he voiced the character Sky in the animated series Winx Club. He also made a one-episode appearance in the third season of MTV’s Teen Wolf and appeared twice in the fourteenth season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. In 2014, he joined the cast of Disney Channel’s Jessie, appearing in three episodes.

One of Shively’s more notable recent roles was in the ABC comedy series The Real O'Neals, which premiered in March 2016. His role in the show further showcased his versatility and comedic timing as an actor.
