Career in Film and Television

Michael Peña's acting career gained significant momentum in 2004 when he appeared in the Oscar-winning film Million Dollar Baby. That same year, he played a pivotal role in the critically acclaimed film Crash, further cementing his status in Hollywood.

He followed these performances with roles in films such as Oliver Stone’s World Trade Center (2006), which depicted the September 11 attacks, and Babel (2006). In 2007, he co-starred with Mark Wahlberg in Shooter, portraying a novice FBI agent. He also portrayed Sal Castro, a Mexican-American high school teacher and activist, in the HBO film Walkout (2006).

Peña continued his success with comedic and dramatic roles, including a performance opposite Seth Rogen in Observe and Report (2009), and a co-starring role with Jake Gyllenhaal in the gritty police drama End of Watch (2012). He appeared in the World War II film Fury (2014), and achieved further recognition for his role as the fast-talking Luis in Marvel’s superhero comedy Ant-Man (2015).

On television, he voiced a character in the animated comedy series Chozen and has had roles in other shows throughout his career. Peña has earned a reputation for his versatility, appearing in roles that span action, drama, comedy, and historical narratives.

Musical Endeavors

In addition to acting, Michael Peña is also a musician. In 2005, he helped form the rock band Nico Vega, which gained a dedicated following. He co-wrote the band’s notable track “Beast,” contributing to its raw and energetic sound. Although he eventually stepped away from an active role in the band, Peña’s early contributions helped shape its direction and tone.
