Monica Potter is an American actress who was born on June 30, 1971, in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States. She was born to Nancy and Paul Brokaw and grew up with three sisters named Kerry, Jessica, and Bridgette. Potter attended the Villa Angela Academy and went on to graduate from Euclid High School. Potter wanted to be an actress from a young age and began acting at the Cleveland Play House. She moved around a lot with her family and appeared in several commercials in Chicago, Illinois before relocating to Los Angeles in 1994. She made her television debut the same year on the CBS soap opera "The Young and the Restless". Potter went on to appear in the music video for "Tall, Tall Trees" by Alan Jackson in 1995. Potter went on to star in major motion pictures such as "Con Air" alongside Nicolas Cage and "Patch Adams" with Robin Williams.
In 2004, Potter played Alison Gordon in the horror film "Saw". In 2009, she appeared in the TNT television series "Trust Me". Potter married Tom Potter in 1990 and had two sons. They later divorced and in 2005 Potter married orthopedic surgeon Daniel Christopher Allison. This marriage also failed and the couple filed for divorce in 2018.
