Niharika Acharya was born the small town of Sarahan, located in the northern region of India. She lived the majority of her early years in her home country. She was able to graduate with a Master’s Degree in Mass Communications from the Jamia Milia Islamia University, based in New Delhi. She was an excellent student and was able to also graduate at the top of her class with a degree in Political Science from the Lady Shri Ram College for Women in New Delhi. She went on to work for Bloomberg TV during a run from 2010 to 2014. At Bloomberg, she was hired to be the producer for their flagship political show called Political Capital with Al Hunt. It was a political show that focused heavily on the economy and included conversations on national and international economic news. The show was known for its weekly wrap-up and interviews with notable political figures.
During her career as a reporter and editor, she has covered many major stories and national events. She provided coverage of the US Presidential Elections in 2004 and 2008. She also covered the UN General Assembly sessions and 9/11 Terrorist Attack Anniversaries.
