Niharika Acharya was born in the small town of Sarahan in the northern region of India. She spent most of her early years in India and pursued higher education in New Delhi. She earned a Master's degree in Mass Communication from Jamia Millia Islamia University. Prior to that, she completed a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, where she graduated at the top of her class. Her early education was completed at the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute.

Acharya began her mainstream media career as a freelance producer for Fox TV.
