His paternal grandparents emigrated from Durban, South Africa to the United Kingdom during the apartheid era, seeking better opportunities and safety for their family. Ritchie is the second of three siblings and demonstrated artistic talent from a young age. His early interest in performance led him to join the National Youth Theatre during his teenage years, laying the foundation for his acting career.

Breakthrough and Film Career

Ritchie’s dedication to acting was evident from his early stage performances, where he gained recognition for his compelling presence and versatility. His breakthrough came when a casting producer noticed him during a solo monologue at the Soho Theatre in London. This pivotal moment led to his casting in the 2008 historical adventure film 10,000 BC, directed by Roland Emmerich, where he portrayed the character Moha.

The following year, Ritchie played Ray Singh in the 2009 drama The Lovely Bones, based on Alice Sebold’s bestselling novel. In the film, he acted opposite the protagonist Susie Salmon and delivered a performance that helped solidify his standing in the industry. Refusing to be typecast, Ritchie has portrayed a wide range of characters across genres and formats, consistently earning praise for his nuanced and committed performances.
