Aytes hails from the Harlem neighgorhood of New York City. She attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School for Music and Performing Arts, and went on to Purchase College at the State University of New York to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts.

Her career took a turn when she started doing commercial ads as a model for various large organizations like Mercedes Benz, Coca-Cola and McDonalds. She was well recognized for her performance in Tyler Perry's Madea's Family Reunion in the role of Lisa Breaux. Her character suffered bravely through a difficult relationship with a fiance who was often menacing and violent with her.

In the year 2012, Rochelle was telecasted in the ABC drama series named as Mistresses as one among the four leading actresses Jes Macallan, Yunjin Kim, and Alyssa Milano. The series focused on the life of four friends and their life. The serial was got started on television in the year 2013 on 3rd June. Rochelle got engaged to CJ Lindsey that is to her boyfriend in the year 2015.
