Sara Gilbert

Gilbert appeared in two films alongside Drew Barrymore, in “Poison Ivy” in 1992 and “Riding In Cars With Boys” in 2001. Gilbert also had a feature role in “Light It Up” in 1999. Sara has also had several minor roles following “Roseanne”, including the short film “$30”, aka, “30 Bucks”, as part of the Boys Life 3 feature, and “High Fidelity”. She directed her short film “Persona Non Grata” in 1998.

When Sara Gilbert as was a teenager, she also became the real life girlfriend of Johnny Galecki; however, while the couple was still together, Sara discovered that she was a lesbian. The couple broke up, but they are still currently friends. She talked about her relationship with him and she said that she realized that she was gay when they were still dating. When her then boyfriend came to see her, she said that she was left feeling depressed and that’s the time when she discovered her homosexuality. In 2001, Gilbert began a relationship with television producer Allison Adler. They have two children—a son, Levi Hank, born to Adler in October 2004, and a daughter, Sawyer Jane, born to Gilbert in August 2007. Gilbert firs revealed to the public that she was a lesbian in 2010.

Sara separated from Adler in 2011 and started a relationship with a song writer of 4 Non Blondes Linda Perry and they announced that they were going to get married in 2013.  Their relationship started in 2010 and the couple had children through artificial insemination. The marriage took place in March 2014.

The personal life of Sara Gilbert has had many ups and downs. Undoubtedly, the height of her career was reached during her time on “Roseanne”.  Sara was considered one of the most recognizable people on television during that time, but when the show stopped, she was out of the limelight. Sara was paid a salary of five thousand dollars per episode for her work on “Roseanne” and in the show’s two final seasons, she earned five hundred thousand dollars.

Sara has reclaimed her fame with the daytime show “The Talk” where she has purportedly has a salary of a million dollars per season. Sara is a co-host on “The Talk” with Julie Chen, wife of television mogul Les Moonves.  Six women leveled sexual harassment and assault allegations against Moonves in an explosive expose published by the New Yorker magazine. After heading CBS for nearly twenty five years, Moonves has since resigned as CEO and Chen did not appear on the Season 9 premiere of "The Talk". Sara spoke openly about the charges, “This is our ninth season, and we've been together since the beginning. I love her, I support her always. However, this is an important time in our culture and just because this hits close to home, it doesn't change the story.” Sara also went on to say “All women's stories…matter. This is very serious, and the appropriate actions need to take place. I am happy when women are heard because for a long time, they haven't been."
