In 1996, Morgan was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series for her role in the TV series “The City”. Winning multiple NAACP awards was a huge milestone for Morgan. She took pride in being recognized for her work by her peers and the African-American community. In 1997 she received a Chicago Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actress for her outstanding work in the film Eve's Bayou.

Among TV her roles, the most known are: Lynette Van Adams in the TV series “Soul Food”, Lora Gibson in the series “For the People”, The Seer in the mystical series “Charmed” and Harmony Hamilton in “The Young and the Restless”. Despite her four marriages, she doesn’t have kids. The lack of kids in her life may be due to the situation she had with her father and mother. She had the fear of having to raise kids on her own like her mother did. Even though she loves Jeffrey, she could never be too sure of the future. She has enough resources to support kids on her own if that was needed. But she can’t be sure that there will be a father in their lives. Having a father is more important than having money. She still is proud though and will be ready to have kids at some point in her life.
