The sisters, Tamera and Tia were eager to make it in the acting industry so the family relocated to California in 1990. The sisters began their careers by participating in a number of pageants and talent shows. Tamera first appeared on screen as Penelope in 'Flesh and Blood'. This was followed by appearances in 'True Colors' and 'Full House'.
Tamera first gained fame for her teen role as Tamera Campbell on the ABC/WB sitcom Sister, Sister. The show was about twins that are separated at birth who then learn of each other and come back together in their teen years. She appeared on the show opposite her identical twin sister, Tia Mowry. Sister, Sister was a huge success that helped to launch Tamera’s career.
She has also starred in the Disney Channel original movie, Twitches and its sequel, Twitches Too. She played Dr. Kayla Thornton on the medical drama Strong Medicine. A reality TV show following her and her twin sister's lives, Tia & Tamera, began airing on the Style Network in 2011, ending in 2013 after three seasons.
She then became one of the hosts of The Real talk show along with former fellow Disney Channel star Adrienne Bailon, Jeannie Mai, and Loni Love, The talk show premiered on July 15, 2013.
Tamera has had roles in many successful movies. In 2000, she had roles in Something to Sing About and Seventeen Again. In 2002, she played a role in The Hot Chicks.
She has won NAACP Image Awards twice after being nominated five times. In 1999 and 2000, she won an Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series along with her sister Tia, for their roles in the sitcom Sister, Sister. She has also been awarded the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards four times. In 1998, she was awarded a Nickelodeons Hall of Fame Award.
