Alongside his television work, Theo James began his film career with a supporting role in Woody Allen's 2010 comedy-drama You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, sharing the screen with industry veterans such as Anthony Hopkins, Naomi Watts, and Antonio Banderas.
In 2011, he appeared in the British comedy The Inbetweeners Movie, directed by Ben Palmer. The following year, he worked with director Paula van der Oest in the international drama The Domino Effect and joined the cast of Underworld: Awakening, the fourth installment in the action-horror Underworld film series.
Theo James achieved international fame for his portrayal of Tobias "Four" Eaton in the 2014 film Divergent, based on Veronica Roth's young adult dystopian novel. His performance brought him significant recognition and led to his return in the franchise’s subsequent sequels, Insurgent (2015) and Allegiant (2016). Although a fourth installment titled Ascendant was initially planned for 2017, it was ultimately canceled and never made.
During his time with the Divergent series, James also starred in the 2015 drama The Benefactor, alongside Richard Gere and Dakota Fanning. In 2016, he appeared in the dark comedy War on Everyone.
