Her mother, Heather Joy Arrington, was a professional tennis player, and her father, Steven Fanning, worked as an electronics salesman and later became involved in minor league baseball. Fanning began her acting journey in community theater at the Towne Lake Arts Center in Woodstock, Georgia.
