From his biography, he was born in California and his parents are Victor Gamboa Fuentes and Vivian K Fuentes. His father is a former Mexican jazz musician and he is a painter now. He was born with a younger brother called Mike Fuentes, one half sister and two half brothers. He has some relationship with Nick Martin who is an actor in Sleeping With Sirens.

When Vic Fuentes was 7 years old, he learned how to play the guitar. After attending the Mission Bay High School, he attended the San Diego State University and he did studies in the Graphic design. He stopped to study when the band he was in called Before Today, was signed under Equal Vision Records. He has written a song called A Match Into Water on the third album of the band. The album is Collide with the Sky. This was for his ex girlfriend when she was suffering because of breast cancer. He is now the boyfriend for Danielle Perry who was at a cover model of Black Market Album and it is from Rise Against. He is a friend to Curtis Peoples and he was a co-writer of King for a Day and it was a Gold Single. They did play together in a band known as 3 Simple World when they were in the high school.

After playing for 3 Simple Words together with Curtis People and others, he formed the group with his brother Mike called Early Times. After releasing the three EPs, the band had to rename their band because of copyright violation. The band got renamed to Before Today and it signed the contract under Equal Vision Records. The band released one album called A Celebration of an Ending and afterwards, they broke up.

The brothers integrated Jaime Preciado who is a bassist and Tony Perry who is a guitarist and they formed a new band under the name of Pierce the Veil. With the band, he was able to release two albums: Collide with the Sky and Selfish Machines. He had a tour that took him around the world in Europe, Asia, Australia, South America and North America. He played in high regarded music festivals and got involved into a supergroup that was short lived called Isles& Glaciers.

Vic Fuentes is a song writer and he does not follow any concept when it comes to write his songs but he gains inspiration from personal experiences, familiar situation, friends, touring and relationship. He is known to have high vocal range.
