He's the son of an accountant Cassandra and Albert Brown, who's a nuclear medical technician.

He attended Mount Vernon High school situated in New York, while in school he was a quarter back, he was offered a scholarship to study at the University of Iowa, but he rejected the offer to become a musician, he decided to pursue his musical career after rejecting the offer. Throughout his music career he has been nominated in several music awards.

Personal Life

Brown isn't married and has never been married but he has been in relationships with other women. He has three children named Al B sure Jr, Devin and Quincy with his ex girlfriend Kim Porter. All his sons are on the same career path as their father, Sure Jr is a singer, while Devin is a music producer and hip hop artist based in Atlanta, Georgia. His other son Quincy is also a musician, he has a goddaughter Paige Hurd. He was rumoured to be dating Karyn white and Rolanda Watts.

He has a personal net worth of about $4 million. He's a user of social media sites like twitter and he's an occasional user of the account.

Career

In 1987, he was the winner of the Sony innovators talent search, he worked with Quincy jones on a lot of projects one of the most notable one was, The Secret Garden (Sweet Seduction Suite), the song was released as a single in the album Back on the Block.

He released his debut album in 1998 it was titled Effect Mode, the album sold over two million copies and it topped the billboard r&b charts for weeks. The album had hit single Nite and Day, he also received a Grammy nomination prior to the release of the album.

Throughout his career he has been nominated for various awards including the Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, and Soul train awards. He won the award for best new artist in the soul train awards and American music awards.

Aside from being a musician he's also a writer and has pioneered young r&b artist like Jodeci, Tevin Campbell, Faith Evans, Case, Usher and Dave Hollister.

He released the album Honey, I'm Home in 2009 under the record label Hidden Beach Recordings.

Other Works

Aside from being a musician, he has also took part in acting roles, in 1991 he played part in the movie Private Times, where he co starred with Martin Lawrence. He has also made appearances in talk shows like The Oprah Winfrey, Late night with David Letterman, Good Morning America, The Arsenion Hall show, The tonight show with Jay Leno. He also hosted the MTV jams.

He served as an executive producer of a comedy show aired by HBO, it starred the likes of Jamie Foxx.
