After completing her education at Toronto's Branksome Hall in 1976, Ann served as a flight attendant at Nordair, where she was referred to as "Miss Interline" and awarded a trophy from Mr. Paul Pelletier – the vice president of the company. She was married briefly to Canadian downhill skier Steve Podborski.
Ann first was introduced to television viewers in the 1970's, co-hosting "That's Life", a Global Television Network news/entertainment magazine. In 1979, Ann anchored the syndicated program "Show Biz". Ann joined CTV's Canada AM as a featured reporter and in 1986, Ann joined CityTV, where she worked as the weekend sports host. Ann was one of the first female Canadian sports reporters to interview male athletes in their change rooms. Ann then co-hosted Breakfast Television for more 12 years.
Seeking a change, in October 2001, Ann became the program presenter for CP24 and City Online, an interactive on-air, phone-in show. In February 2002, Ann served as a news anchor as well as hosted CP 24's "Hot Property" and "Animal House Calls". Ann substitutes for Jee Yun Lee on "HomePage" and Tonya Rouse on "Perfect Fit".
Ann is a long time supporter of the World Wildlife Fund and has also lent support to many animal-associated non-profit organizations.
In June 2010, Ann announced she would be leaving CP24, where she was given an on-air sendoff. In the Fall of that same year, Ann returned to CP24 where she continues news anchoring.
