Born to parents Linda and William Novak on 31st of July, 1979 in Newton, Massachusetts, Benjamin Joseph Manaly Novak is a Jew by religion. His father was an author and is famous for behind the book writing work for Lee Iacocca and Nancy Regan. His parents also ventured in to Jew Match making business. Novak is elder of the three siblings all boys. He did his schooling from the Solomon Schechter Day School, Greater Boston and the Newton South High School. Novak did his graduation from the Harvard University with English and Spanish as his major subjects. At Harvard he had membership of the Harvard Lampoon and Hasty Pudding Club. His interest in art and drama was inbuilt and he also conducted a regular stage drama, The B.J. Show in the university campus.
After graduation from Harvard in the year 2001, Novak relocated to Los Angeles, California for better prospects in his area of interest. There he joined acting clubs as a comedian and did pretty well. Soon on October 10, 2001 he was able to his give his maiden stand-up show at the Hollywood Youth Hostel. He did very well in his endeavours and raised himself to level that in the year 2003 he was included in the Variety’s list of ‘Ten Comedians to Watch.’ Novak, then ventured in to scriptwriting with the Showtime series Raising Dad. However, he only appeared on screen two year after his first stand-up comedy with the show Punk’d on MTV in the year 2003. The theme of the show was to play pranks on celebrities and he did it so very well. Besides this Novak continued to give his performances in various comedy clubs. Then came his ever loved character of Ryan Howard for the Greg Daniels comedy series ‘The Office.’ He has delivered the show till its eighth season. Besides this he has also worked for various films including The Smurfs and Inglorious Bustards. For Inglorious Bastards, the whole cast received the Screen Actors Guild Awards. He also appeared in the superhero movie, ‘The Amazing Spiderman-2’ and 2013 dramedy ‘Saving Mr. Banks.’ Apart from acting Novak has written various episodes of The Office and a few books. His books include ‘One more thing: Stories and Other Stories and The Book with No Pictures.’
Novak is also known for his friendship with Mindy Kaling. She is deemed to his girlfriend as they seem to be dating, though not regularly. They got connected on the sets of the show The Office, in which their characters do the similar kind of on-off dating as they do in real life. With the 15th year of his career in progression, Novak seems to be riding high on success and continuously creating new opportunities to take it to new heights.
