Bradley Whitford

American actor, Bradley Whitford, was born on 10th October, 1959 in Madison, Wisconsin. He was the son of Genevieve Louie and George Van Norman Whitford. After graduating from Madison East High School in the year 1977, he did his B.A with majored in English and Theater from Wesleyan University in 1981. From the year 1981 to 1985 he was a consistent member of Group-14, a group of the Juilliard School's Drama division. He also earned his Master's degree in Theater from that. “Curse of the Starving Class” was Whitford's first professional performance with Kathy Bates under the off-Broadway production at the Promenade Theater, running from July 30, 1985 to February 16, 1986 .“Three Days of Rain” at Manhattan Theater Club, “Measure for Measure” at Lincoln Center and the title role in “Coriolanus” at the Folger Shakespeare Theater in Washington D.C are some of his remarkable theater performance.

“The Equalizer (1985)” and “Doorman (1986)” was his debut television series and film respectively and he never stopped after that. Whitford is best known as Josh Layman on the political drama series “The West Wing (1999)” of Aron Sorkin. They met when Whitford was a replacement in Sorkin's A Few Good Men on Broadway in 1990. He won Emmy award in 2001 for best supporting actor for “The West Wing”, also got nomination for “Emmy Awards” as well as “Golden globe Award” consecutively from 2001-2003. In 2015, he awarded with his 2nd Emmy Award for “Transparent (2014)”. He also won “Critics Choice Television Awards” (2015) as “Best Guest Performer in a Comedy Series”, “Online Film & Television Association (OFTA) Television Award” (2015) for Transparent (2014).

Besides his contribution in film, television series and theater he has contribution in political world also. He was awarded as Champion of Justice in May, 2007 by Alliance of justice, a non profit organization. He was also appointed as speaker for Class Day at Princeton University in June 2007 and worked as a political representative around Ohio and Wisconsin for present US president, Senator of D-Ohio , US Senate candidate Congresswoman of D-Wisconsin) in October 2012. Withford was married to his fellow actress Jane Kaczmarek in 1992. They worked together in different projects – Malcolm in the Middle (2000), Robocop 3 (1993), Philadelphia (1993) and The West Wing (1999).As a social responsibility he founded a charity "Clothes off our Back" for children, with his wife in 2002 which run on-line auctions of celebrities' clothing. Till 2009, they lived in San Marino, California with their three children - Frances Genevieve , George Edward and Mary Louisa. After that they had announced their divorce. In early 2015, he started dating his co-star Amy Landecker from American comedy television series Transparent (2014).
