Education

He grew up in the city of Abilene in Texas. It was there that he attended the Wylie High School. While attending the school he participated on various physical activities such as track, football and basketball.

He was one of the Wylie Bulldogs. He made a good name for him in high school as by 2004 he was able to lead his team to a victory against the Cuero High School team of the city of Cuero, Texas in the Class 3A Division I state championship. During the game he ripped off a 39-yard run, giving his team the edge it needed.

After finishing high school, he was was recruited by various colleges to play for their teams. Among them, the Baylor Bears football team, The North Texas Mean Green football team, The UTEP Miners football, and the Houston Cougars football team. The last one was the only university to offer him a scholarship.

First Years

He started his first season at the University of Houston in 2006. While in his first year he was put in a reserve to be selected later. He made his debut game the following year, in a game against the Oregon Ducks. He threw for 179 yards during that game. Later, in a game against the Tulane Green Wave football team he threw for 183 yards. That, along with a touchdown passing, lead the team to winning the competition. This performance gave him the recognition of CollegeSportsReport.com as they named him the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision’s National Performer of the Week. He continued to play for the next thirteen games of the season. Thanks to his passing and pocket presence he was tabbed to become a regular starting quarterback. By 2008 he became the second player in that university to complete over 5,000 passing yards and was the runner up in running yards, second to Graham Stanton Harrell. That year the Houston Cougars also won their first bowl in years. Among the good news, he also earned the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year award.

He led his team to a 10 to 4 record in the season of 2009. During that season the Houston Cougars showed much improvement. The following year he suffered an injury when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament during a game against the University of California, Los Angeles. That incident ended his season. Two years later he was named 2011 Conference USA Preseason Offensive Player of the Year once again. On October he set a record after throwing for nine touchdowns.

Career

In 2012 he was placed on the Houston Texans practice squad. The following year he was placed as the third string quarterback in the Houston Texans ‘53. In a game against the Kansas City Chiefs he played as starting quarterback. Later he threw his first career touchdown pass in his pro debut.

There were a succession of contracts during a certain period of time, while he moved from team to team. He stayed for a short time with the St. Louis Rams. After that he signed once again with the Houston Texans. Playing with them, in 2014, he won his first NFL game against the Baltimore Bears. He then returned to the St. Louis Rams. In 2015 he help the team acquire three victories.

He is married to his wife Kimberly Caddell. They celebrated their wedding in 2011.
