Chris Jacobs was born on 30th January 1970. Chris is a television personality and host of several television programs. He previously hosted the program Overhaulin’ for TLC and he is also the lead host for Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auctions, both of which air on Velocity. He works as a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight and formerly hosted The Insider. Currently, he is aslo working for the National Football League as a weekend presenter for the NFL Network and lately he had hosted the interactive portion of Gold Rush Live and Chopper Live both of which comes on the Discovery Channel.
Career
Chris Jacobs is perhaps best known for his role as a co-host for the television program Overhaulin'. Jacobs had moderate success with roles in television, film, and commercial projects for eight years before being tapped to co-host the vehicle modification television program Overhaulin' in 2004. As the co-host of the program, Jacobs would be involved in various schemes and ruses to "steal" the cars of the television programs "victims" before returing the vehicle in a modified or restored condition.
One notable modification performed on the program involved the modification of a 1993 Hummer H1 that CNN used to cover the war in Iraq. Over a one-week period, the Overhaulin' crew replaced the engine, raised the vehicle's body and air brushed images of correspondents and troops onto the Hummer. They also added a DVD player, four televisions and a state-of-the-art sound system. TLC unveiled the revamped Hummer, named "Warrior One," in front of a crowd of fans, media and CNN employees. Regarding the project, Jacobs later said "we wanted to commemorate the journalists who risked their lives, and in some cases, gave their lives to tell the story of the war.
The "Warrior One" project vehicle was unveiled in CNN Center in Atlanta, and was sold in 2007 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction for $1,000,000 in as part of a lot of vehicles sold to support the charitiable Fisher House Foundation.
The program Overhaulin' went on hiatus in 2008; after the show went on hiatus Jacobs moved on to be a co-presenter for tabloid style entertainment news magazine program The Insider with Lara Spencer from 2009 to 2011.
On March 5, 2011, it was announced that he had been named a full time correspondent for Entertainment Tonight. Chris Jacobs left his position at Entertainment Tonight in early 2013 after the program Overhaulin' returned to television for a sixth season on television network Velocity in the fall of 2012.
Starting in 2013, afterJacobs had left Entertainment Tonight, he became a presenter for the National Football League. Jacob presented commentary and information on weekend programs for the NFL Network. Jacobs has also hosted several live events for Discovery networks, including the programs Skywire Live, Skyscraper Live, Chopper Live, Gold Rush Live, and Klondike Live. Starting in the year 2014, Jacobs began co-hosting the live broadcast of the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auctions for the Velocity network. Jacobs' role as co-host for the program Overhaulin' ened when the final season of the television series Overhaulin' finished airing on the Velocity network in November 2015.
In June 2015, Jacobs became involved with another new series when production began on an American version of the British television program Long Lost Family, which debuted on TLC on March 6, 2016. Jacobs co-hosts the show along with Lisa Joyner. The program focuses on the search by people to find estranged or lost family members. Jacobs said he was drawn to the project because, like his co-host Lisa Joyner, he was adopted and had spent a significant amount of effort as an adult to locate his own biological family. In a presentation for the program, Jacobs said he utilized an adoption location service as a young adult and was fortunate to find his biological mother and form a positive relationship.
In addition to his work as a television host and presenter, Jacobs also has had several small roles as a television actor. His first television role was as a server in the program Nick of Time. He also had several other roles in scripted television, including appearances in The X Files as an E.R. doctor, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation?, Touched by an Angel, Two and A Half Men, Wild Roomies, and Happily Divorced.
