Clay Walker battled Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 26. His doctor even said he'd be in a wheelchair by 2000 and dead by 2004. Still, Clay kept his devotion towards his music. "A lot of people say the human spirit is stronger than diagnosis or prognosis. I still believe that. The most important thing I feel a person is born with is the will to live," he said to a radio interview. "We're all born with that. I refuse to buy into the concept that because I had MS that my life would be less fulfilling. Your life can be even more fulfilling because you now have a cause. We all have a cause, and it just takes some of us a long time to find it. Those who have MS are more acutely aware of it." He also added that his medical condition partially influenced his relationship with his music. In addition, due to his MS (Multiple Sclerosis), he began a non-profit charity called Band Against the Disease.
Clay Walker has released four Platinum single albums since the beginning of his career, with the first Platinum being his first single titled "What's It to You." He is additionally famous thanks to other nationally loved songs like "If I Could Make a Living, " Dreaming with My Eyes Open," and "Live Until I Die." "Live Until I Die" was his second single and second consecutive Platinum song. It reached Number One on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.
When describing his music, Clay said, "I feel like I'm probably the most versatile right now that I've ever been, meaning I have a vast range. I can sing low and high, and I haven't lost; I've expanded my content since I started, and it's something that I feel like I can showcase better now, but I still think the main thing that people identify about my voice and my music is the soulfulness. To me, when I look back as a legacy, I would love people to use that word if they were going to describe me as a singer and say, "man, he was one of the most soulful people I ever heard sing. "
