Contessa Brewer was born in the state of Maine. She graduated from Sacopee Valley High school located in Hiram, Maine during the year 1992. She holds a Bachelor of Science in broadcast reporting and a Certificate of Contemporary Europe in the wake of studying governmental issues in Strasbourg, France. Brewer is a Remembrance Scholar and magna cum laude graduate of Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication and Honors Program.

Contessa Brewer started to work in 2003 at MSNBC after she was gaining experience with her role at WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee. At MSNBC, she worked as an anchor during the weekend and she also worked for the general assignment beat.

Brewer went through seven years in local news before coming to MSNBC in 2003. Previously, she worked with KMIR-TV in Palm Springs, California during the year 1997 up to 1999. She also worked at KRNV-TV in Reno, Nevada which is now owned by Journal Communications.

During the year 2005, Brewer was a newsreader with the Imus In the Morning radio show. She worked there for a brief time until she started a feud with Don Imus because the New York Post published a gossip item about how she overhead something about a radio personality. He replied with disparaging remarks to Brewer. After some time, she started to appear on the Verdict with Dan Abrams until its cancellation. Brewer and Dan were often found discussing and hosting the Winners and Losers segment. She was working for MSNBC every weekday until her exit in 2011.

Even though Contessa Brewer was facing many criticisms when it came to her career, she is also known to be hardworking with enough capabilities. She gained experience by interviewing many famous people from different fields such as politics and film.

In 2010, she hosted a Senator form Hampshire named Judd Gregg. He was a guest when a show was hosted by Melissa Francis and Brewer. He was calling for cuts into the federal Budget. When the senator was not able to answer the questions about where he wanted the cuts, Brewer continued to ask him about the same questions asking exactly where he was supporting the cuts. Gregg became angry and called Brewer irresponsible, fundamentally dishonest, and absurd.

Brewer also was again criticized because of a blog she wrote about the man who carried a gun to the appearance of Obama in Arizona. She said the person was white while others believed that he was black. She was also heard supporting the Muslims.

Contessa Brewer joined CNBC full time as a journalist and fill-in anchor in 2017. She has secured significant reports for the popular network including the 2016 presidential political race, Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma, and Hurricane Maria.

Contessa Brewer is married to Dan Senor. They were expecting their first child in 2011 and she gave birth to twins, both boys.
