Cybill Lynne Shepherd, an American actor was born on February 18, 1950. She is also a singer as well as a model. She resides in Memphis Tennessee, United States. She had humble beginnings, being the daughter of a home maker and a home appliance business manager.

Early life:

She was an extremely beautiful person, having won the “Miss Teenage Memphis” title in 1966. She has also won the 1968 “Model of the Year” Contest at the age of just eighteen years. 

Her career:

Being a model entailed publishing of her photos on glamour magazine covers. Noted film director Peter Bogdanovich saw her photograph in one such magazine cover and that was the start of her illustrious career. She did her first film, “The Last Picture Show” with him. That film was a super hit one and won several Oscar nominations. Cybill was also nominated for the Golden Globe awards. Her subsequent movies included “The Heartbreak Kid” and “Daisy Miller.”

She released her first album, “Cybill does it” in 1974. She has her share of failures soon after. After this bad phase, she bounced back with her work in “Taxi Driver” and “The Lady Vanishes”. Shad a role to play in many famous TV shows such as CBS’s “Cybill” based loosely on her life story. 

Her personal life:

She has been romantically linked with many directors and actors right from Peter Bogdanovich, Jeff Bridges, as well as Larry McMurtry. She is famous for sharing excellent chemistry with her co-stars. She has been instrumental in selecting future stars such as Bruce Willis.

She had a wild life prompting her mother to call her back to Memphis. She went back to Memphis and began dating auto parts dealer David Ford. She became pregnant with her daughter Clementine Ford. They divorced in 1982. She was later involved with chiropractor Bruce Oppenheim and gave birth to twins. After a divorce in 1990, she became engaged to Andrei Nikolajevic. In the meanwhile she was diagnosed with melanoma and was cured of it.   

Her political ambitions:

She has been an outspoken gay activist right since her younger days. She is also an advocate for same sex marriages and parental rights. She has even lent financial support to the National Civil Rights Museum in her hometown.

Religion:

Initially she described herself as a “goddess worshipping Christian Pagan Buddhist.” Subsequently during the publicity campaign for her film, “Do you believe” she revealed a return to her Christian roots.

She has won a lot of awards including 3 Golden Globe awards, In addition she has been nominated for the Emmy awards four times and three more times for the Golden Globe.

Fun Facts:

She claims to have dated Elvis Presley in the early 1970s, but could not handle his dependence on drugs.

She was on the verge of dating Jack Nicholson, making Peter Bogdanovich very jealous.

In 1972, while working with Charles Grodin on the sets of “The Heartbreak Kid”, she had said that she did not enjoy working with him. Later on after several years, they allegedly had a one night stand.  She had turned down a date with Robert De Niro in 1976.
