Cheryl Burke is an American dancer, model, and television host born on May 3, 1984. She is most known for being a professional dancer on ABC's Dancing with the Stars, where she was the first female professional to win the competition and the first professional to win the show twice in a row. She's been a member of 23 seasons so far. On the NBC show I Can Do That, she came in second place. In 2017, she took over as Abby Lee Miller's replacement on Dance Moms.
She was born to her parents, Sherri and Stephen Burke. She has a very beautiful and unique look because her racial origin is mixed. Her father is of Russian and Irish descent, while her mother is of Filipino descent. She has a sister named Nicole and a stepsister named Mandy.
Cheryl was very active and has loved to dance ever since the early days of her childhood. When she was 4, she started to take ballet lessons. After gaining some experience, her parents decided to enroll her in ballroom dancing classes. Little did they know that those classes would make their little girl a future dancing phenomenon.
On the second season of ABC's Dancing With The Stars, she partnered with 98 Degree's lead singer member Drew Lachey. 98 Degrees was a famous boy band that had many pop hits during their run on top. When Drew appeared on the show, he was no longer that popular, but that changed when Cheryl gave him the magic touch. With her talent and leadership, the duo won the championship by the end of the season. Viewers of the show could keep the contestants they felt were worthy on the show by voting. Cheryl and Drew's performances were impressive and pushed them to win the voters' respect and admiration throughout the whole season.
Like a sports champion, Cheryl would go back to back in the third season of Dancing With The Stars. This time, she partnered with NFL Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith. In her first championship season, she had good chemistry with Drew because he had dancing experience in a boy band. Some people expected that she would carry a heavier load with Emmitt because he was a big and strong football player. Emmitt surprised the national audience, but football fans were not surprised because they knew the former All-Pro running break had fancy footwork for playing days on the field.
On March 19, 2007, Cheryl participated in the fourth season of Dancing With The Stars and partnered with a formerly famous actor, Ian Ziering. Ian was a cast member of the popular adult drama Beverly Hills 90210. Unfortunately, Cheryl's skills were not enough to lift the duo to a championship, and Cheryl was dealt with her first-ever elimination on the show.
After some lackluster partners in seasons 5 and 6, Cheryl approached season 7 of Dancing With The Stars with some championship hopes. Her new partner was former Olympic athlete Maurice Greene. Cheryl hoped to recapture her magic with Emmitt Smith from season 2, but they were eliminated during week eight and finished in the 5th season.
Season 25 of Dancing With The Stars marked Cheryl's 20th appearance on the show. She had so many seasons on her resume because the producers and fans of the show loved her looks and talent. Her new partner was from NFL star Terrell Owens. Owens had a reputation for being hard to deal with during his playing days, but Cheryl could still drag him to a 6th place finish.

Cheryl took a season off before coming back for the 27th season. Her partner was
She was paired with former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens [7] and finished in 6th place. After taking another season off, she returned for season 27, paired with Argentinian actor and heartthrob Juan Pablo Di Pace.
Cheryl released her autobiography entitled Dancing Lessons in 2011. The book had a very sad story as she revealed that she was molested and fondled by a handyman when she was just five years old. She wrote that she felt it was wrong, but as a little girl, she didn't know how to properly earn the affection of adults. The criminal was arrested and placed in prison for 22 years, but he got out of jail in 2008. Cheryl was applauded for being brave enough to be open about her story. She helped many women come out with their stories of abuse.
Dancing With The Stars opened up a lot of income streams for Cheryl. She was hired to promote national brands like Depend Silhouette briefs, Impress Nails, and Sargento Cheese. She earned enough money from Dancing With The Stars to open her dance studio in 2008. The studio attracted many customers because they believed in her skills and wanted to learn from her.
Cheryl met former TV star Matthew Lawrence in 2006 when his brother, Joey, was on Dancing With The Stars. They dated for only one year, from 2007 to 2008. Things did not work out for them, but they kept feelings for each other throughout the years.
In 2017, it was revealed that they had gotten back together, but no one knows how long they were dating before it became public. When they broke up a decade earlier, they didn't know at the time that they were meant for each other. During their time away, Cheryl realized that Matthew was the one because she couldn't stop thinking about him even when she was dating other men.
On May 3, 2018, Matthew proposed to Cheryl and asked her for her hand in marriage on her birthday. In an interview with People Magazine, Cheryl explained why she is so in love with Matthew, "He's the first man I can say that I feel safe with and that I know will always have my back no matter what. He's normal, and he's grounded; he's got a huge heart. It's hard to find."
Even after all the accolades, fame, and attention, she got from her performances on Dancing With The Stars, Cheryl's ultimate prize was getting engaged with the love of her life.
