Stults began his acting career with a minor role in an episode of NBC’s sitcom Will & Grace, where he played a character named Justin. Although brief, the opportunity proved to be a stepping stone. That same year, he made a small appearance on the iconic TV show Friends, portraying Frederick in the episode titled “The One with Joey’s New Brain” from Season 7.

In 2002, his career took a significant turn when he joined the cast of the WB’s hit drama series 7th Heaven. He played Kevin Kinkirk, a police officer and the love interest of Lucy Camden, over the course of five seasons. From 2002 to 2007, Stults appeared in 114 episodes, earning substantial recognition for his role.

After 7th Heaven, he continued to work regularly in television. In 2009, he starred in the television movie Hydra, followed by another lead role in the 2011 TV film Borderline Murder, in which he portrayed a character named Michael.
