Hayden Christensen was born in British Columbia, Vancouver.  His mother is Alie Nelson who was an American Speechwriter with David Christensen, who was communication executives and computer programmer.  The father came from Irish while the mother comes from Italian and Swedish ancestry. 

He was raised in Toronto and attended public schools.  He liked sports and he played tennis at a provincial level and hockey as a competition.  During the summer, he liked to spend some time in Long Island with the maternal grandmother. He attended Arts York and Actors Studio program while at Unionville High school. He got discovered when an agent came to see her sister, Hejsa who was a trampoline champion when he got a role in the Pringles Commercials.

Hayden Christensen first role was when he was 12 years and he was in a supporting role with a German-Canadian television series called Macht Der Leidenschaft/ Family Passions.  After a year, he got a small role with In The Mouth of Madness of John Carpenter.  He appeared in other movies like The Virgin Suicides, Are You Afraid of The Dark, Goosebumps, Forever Knight, and Harrison Bergeron.  He got noticed when he played in Higher Ground, in 2000 as a teen which was a Fox Family Channels movie. He played a teen that got sexually molested by a stepmother and turned for the drugs because of the despair.

His acclaimed role is when he played in the Life as a House, where he was a teenager who was misunderstood and for this role, he got a SAG and a Golden  Globe nomination.  He went to play in London where he played, This is Your Youth, Anna Paquin and Jake Glyllenhaal.

Hayden Christensen was dating Rachel Bilson and they were engaged once but the wedding was called off in 2010.  However, now they are expecting their first child even if their marriage had not been celebrated yet. Hayden became her boyfriend when they were working together in 2007 at Jumper.  However, now they are both happy for their first child and they say that marriage can wait as far as they have their baby. Even if there is nothing about the wedding soon, they are both happy on the way everything turned out for them.

Hayden Christensen has 12 million dollars as his net worth. He got his first acting salary when he played in Pringles commercial at the age of eight.  He started to play in the movies when he was only 13. He got an MTV Movie Award for playing in episode three of Star Wars because of being the Best Villain.
