The beautiful town of Le Claire still serves as the home for the couple, who tied the knot after eighteen years of dating each other. Jodi confessed that she was scared to mother a child again at 41 years of age since she had her first child at only 24. She says at 24, one does not really know how to raise a child properly, as they themselves are not very mature. She admitted that before the birth of her first child, she did not do any research regarding cribs, schools, and other aspects of motherhood.

She is thankful that even if she was not really the perfect mother, her first son turned out fine. She said the most important thing she did when raising her first child was spending time with him, something which she plans to do with her Charlie as well. “No phones, iPads or distractions”, she says. Charlie was born with a cleft lip, but Jodi and Mike pulled through somehow. During Charlie’s first year, she had two operations of reconstructive surgery. Jodi confessed that those were tough times for her family. She said she and Mike used to stay up all night at the hospital. Not only was Mike dedicated to his work, but he was also very dedicated to his family.
