Keri Hilson is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, actress, and dancer. She was born and raised in Decatur, Georgia. From a young age, she expressed a passion for music and began working with producer Anthony Dent. By the age of 14, she had secured a record deal as a member of the girl group D’Signe, which disbanded shortly after.

Inspired in part by her father’s musical family, Hilson dedicated the album to personal storytelling and emotional depth.

In a Perfect World... debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200 and was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album produced several hit singles including “Turnin Me On,” “Knock You Down,” and “I Like.” The song “Knock You Down,” featuring Kanye West and Ne-Yo, earned her two Grammy Award nominations: Best New Artist and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.
