Early Life and Education

Laila Robins was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, to Latvian-American parents, Janis and Brigita Robins. Her father worked as a research chemist, and she grew up alongside three sisters. Robins pursued higher education at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, where she earned her undergraduate degree, and later obtained a Master of Fine Arts from the prestigious Yale School of Drama. Her classical training laid the foundation for a robust acting career on stage and screen.

Film and Television Career

Robins made her film debut in 1987, playing Susan Page, the wife of Steve Martin's character in the hit comedy Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Since then, she has appeared in diverse roles in both film and television. Notable film credits include her roles as Irene in She’s Lost Control, Dr. Tynan in The Letter, and Lauren in Multiple Sarcasms. In television, she has had recurring appearances in series such as Homeland, The Blacklist, and The Boys, showcasing her adaptability across genres.
