Landry Jones was born in New Mexico. He went to Artesia High school in the area where he was born and he was the leader of his football team who led it to state championship and he made the throwing that was combined to be of 7,013 yards together with 89 touchdowns. When he was a senior in the year 2007, he threw 3,433 yard with 45 touchdowns. In this period Artesia won against Goddard High and Jones threw for a 325 yards with seven touchdowns for the school records. Jones was named to be the player of Class 4A of the year and was the finalist of Joe Montana Quarterback for the year award.

Landry Jones was considered as a highly regarded recruit and he was among the highest rated quarterbacks for the class of 2008 by different rating publishers and this includes a four start rating by scout.com together with rivals.com.  He was recruited by different schools and this included Wisconsin, Virginia, UCLA, Stanford, Oregon and Colorado.

For his college career, he was playing for the University of Oklahoma and he was playing for Oklahoma Sooners football team starting from the year 2008 until 2012. In the third string quarterback Keith Nichol was transferred to go to Michigan State and he was leaving Joey Halzle and Jones who became redshirted in their freshman year when he was the backups for Sam Bradford.  During the year 2009, Jones was in a starting quarterback for Sooners since Bradford had injury on his shoulder. The Sooners lost the game.

Landry Jones was drafted in a fourth round in the year 2013 nfl draft. He signed the contract for four years and it was worth 2.59million as a salary for the contract and the signing bonus was 439,220 dollars.  The Steelers drafted him and they developed a long term backup quarterback when he replaced Byron Leftwich and Charlie Batch.

Landry Jones is named after Tom Landry who was a coach for Dallas Cowboys. Jones is Christian and he featured in the video I am Second where he proclaimed the faith in Jesus Christ.  Landry Jones is married and his wife called Whitney Hand-Jones played for Sooner’s women basketball and she joined San Antonio Stars after being drafted in WNBA Draft for the 32nd for overall pick.  His wedding was attended by 350 people in Forth Worth, Texas in the year 2012. From the time that he was drafted in the year 2013, he appeared in the regular season action for two years and the preseason action.  He attempted 110 and his overall stats rating was 59.1.
