Louis C.K., born Louis Székely on September 12, 1967, in Washington, D.C., is a prominent American comedian, writer, director, and actor. His father, Luis Székely, was of Mexican and Hungarian descent, while his mother, Mary Louise Székely, was of Irish and German ancestry. Although his mother was born in the U.S., she spent time living in Mexico, contributing to Louis's multicultural upbringing. When Louis was one year old, the family relocated to Mexico City, where he spent the first seven years of his life, becoming fluent in Spanish.
He has three sisters and is a cousin of Mario P. Székely, a publicist based in Philadelphia. After his parents divorced when he was ten, Louis moved with his mother and siblings back to the United States and settled in the Boston area of Massachusetts.
Louis C.K. attended Newton North High School in Newton, Massachusetts, graduating in 1985. While he received an offer to attend New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, he chose not to enroll.
