Melissa Stark

Stark pursued higher education at the University of Virginia, where she majored in Foreign Affairs and Spanish. She was also a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Her academic foundation and early passion for journalism laid the groundwork for her future career in sports broadcasting.

Career Beginnings in Broadcast Journalism

Melissa Stark began her broadcasting journey at the age of 18 as an intern on the assignment desk at WMAR-TV in Baltimore. By the time she was 20, she was interning at CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, gaining valuable experience in national news. At age 21, she transitioned into sports journalism, starting her role with ESPN’s SportsCenter, which marked the official launch of her career in sports media.
