Ealy made his film debut in 2001 with a supporting role as Greg in the romantic comedy Kissing Jessica Stein. The following year, he appeared in both Bad Company (2002) and gained wider recognition for his breakout role as Ricky Nash in the hit film Barbershop (2002), after relocating to Los Angeles.
